MOSCOW, Dec 9 (PRIME) -- Austria's OMV expects that the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline construction in its waters will finish until the end of the year, CEO Rainer Seele said on Wednesday.
"Works in the German waters will be completed in December. Another season will start in January, which is unfavorable for pipeline construction on the sea bottom because of the water level change," Seele said.
The Nord Stream-2 project envisages construction of two lines of a natural gas pipeline with an annual capacity of up to 55 billion cubic meters, running from the Russian shore to Germany under the Baltic Sea. Russian gas giant Gazprom is implementing the project together with Germany’s E.ON and BASF, Royal Dutch Shell, Austria’s OMV, and France’s Engie.
On October 20, the U.S. sanctions against Nord Stream-2 were extended to include companies that provide services of upgrading or installment of equipment on the ships laying the pipeline.
